BESPOKE VS. MTM

Handmade Bespoke and Made-to-Measure are terms often used in the context of custom-tailored clothing, especially when it comes to suits. While both involve a personalized approach to tailoring, there are key differences between our Made-to-Measure and our Handmade Bespoke offerings:

Handmade Bespoke:

Definition: Handmade Bespoke refers to a garment that is entirely custom-made from beginning to end based on the client's measurements, preferences, and style. This service is  entirely finished by hand.

Process: The Handmade Bespoke process involves a high level of craftsmanship and personalization. It includes multiple fittings and consultations with our head cutter. Our Handmade Bespoke service includes multiple hours of hand finishing, from hand stitched buttonholes, armholes, hand pleated waistbands and other sartorial finishes.

Individual Patterns: A unique digital pattern is created for each client, and the garment is digitally cut and hand sewn specifically for you.

Fabric Choice: Clients have a wide range of fabric options to choose from, both Italian and UK fabric mills. You can select finer details such as buttons, pleats, linings, pockets, vents and lapel styles. Our coats are constructed with a full canvas and there are 3 different canvas weights to choose from.

Alterations: The final garment is extensively tailored to ensure the desired fit, with adjustments made during the fitting sessions. Alterations are included.

Made-to-Measure (MTM):

Definition: Made-to-Measure garments are also customized, but they start with a pre-existing pattern that is then adjusted to fit the client's measurements and preferences.

Process: While Made-to-Measure involves customization, it typically requires fewer fittings than the Handmade Bespoke process.

Individual Patterns: Our Made-to-Measure patterns are optimized for Business and Formal fit models. These patterns are adjusted based on the individual's measurements and some posture corrections. Customized, individual unique patterns are not available with this service.

Fabric Choice: Our clients who choose this service have a wide range of fabric options to choose from, both Italian and UK fabric mills. You can select finer details such as buttons, linings, pleats, pockets, vents and lapel styles. MTM is limited to our Business and Formal fit models.

Alterations: While adjustments are made to the pre-existing pattern, the level of detail and hand work are not as extensive as in Handmade Bespoke tailoring; but your measurements and posture are accounted for and the coat armhole is finished by hand.

In summary, the primary distinction between Handmade Bespoke and Made-to-Measure lies in the level of customization and the creation of individual patterns. Handmade Bespoke tailoring offers the highest level of personalization, with unique patterns and extensive hand finishes, while made-to-measure tailoring starts with a pre-existing pattern that is adjusted to fit the client's measurements. The choice between Handmade Bespoke and Made-to-Measure often depends on individual preferences, budget, and the level of craftsmanship desired.
